What this converter measures
Linear density expresses mass per unit length. This tool converts the same strand or fiber measurement between denier, decitex and tex. It does not estimate a fiber diameter, a material grade or the yarn that can be spun from a fiber. Keep the identity of the measured object unchanged when converting its unit.

The conversion rules
Denier is grams per 9,000 metres, dtex is grams per 10,000 metres, and tex is grams per 1,000 metres. Convert denier to dtex by multiplying by 10/9. Convert denier to tex by dividing by 9. Convert dtex to tex by dividing by 10. A larger value in any of these direct systems means more mass for the same length.

Worked arithmetic example
Enter 90 and select denier. The results are 100 dtex and 10 tex. Starting with 10 tex returns 90 denier and 100 dtex. This example demonstrates the arithmetic; it does not describe a product offered for sale. Use the copied result with its unit label when adding it to your own purchasing notes.
04 / Planning the purchase
Use the result carefully
Select the unit printed beside your original number. Do not confuse total yarn denier with denier per filament: converting a unit does not change a whole-yarn measurement into a single-filament measurement. Blank, zero, negative and non-finite inputs are rejected. Results are rounded for display; the conversion is calculated before rounding.
