01 / Planning the purchase
Locate the buying stage
A knitwear business may buy finished yarn, while a spinner may start with prepared fiber assemblies. Polyester tops are presented as a continuous sliver of aligned fibers, rather than a finished filament yarn. State whether your inquiry concerns tops for further spinning or yarn for knitting; the two enter the production chain at different stages.
02 / Planning the purchase
Describe the garment concept
Start with the article: a fine-gauge sweater, a textured cardigan or another knitted product. Describe the intended handle, surface appearance and silhouette without assuming that a fiber name guarantees them. Knit structure, yarn construction and finishing all influence the garment, so the brief should preserve that wider context.
03 / Planning the purchase
Make the wool-blend conversation explicit
Name the other blend components and write any agreed proportions beside their names. Include the spinning route your production partner uses when known. If the garment buyer and spinner have different terminology, add both descriptions and identify who can answer follow-up questions about the yarn-making stage.
04 / Planning the purchase
Separate inspiration from order instructions
A photograph can communicate an aesthetic direction but cannot define every part of a garment project. Explain what you like about the reference: a soft surface, a clean stitch outline or a particular drape. Keep that explanation beside the image so the buying discussion does not depend on somebody interpreting a picture alone.
05 / Planning the purchase
Prepare the inquiry handover
Bring together the garment use, tops requirement, blend plan, estimated quantity and delivery destination. For a repeat project, include the earlier reference and note changes. Have questions? Please email us directly; a short description of the project is enough to start the conversation.
Example inquiry outline
Our spinning partner is planning a wool-blend yarn for knitted garments. We are discussing polyester tops for the spinning stage, rather than finished filament yarn. We can describe the garment concept and identify the other blend component. The blend plan and initial purchase quantity are being coordinated between the garment buyer and the spinner.
Adapt this illustrative outline to your own project before sending.
