01 / Planning the purchase
Recognize the prepared fiber form
Polyester tops are aligned staple fibers gathered into a continuous sliver for further processing. They are not the same as continuous filament yarn, and a top is not a finished knitted or woven textile. Establishing this distinction is particularly useful when a garment buyer is communicating through a spinning partner.
02 / Planning the purchase
Connect tops to the yarn project
Describe the intended yarn and what it will become, such as a wool-blend knitted article or a woven fabric. Name the spinning stage that receives the material. If your company buys finished yarn rather than tops, identify the spinning partner who will handle the earlier material conversation.
03 / Planning the purchase
Make the blend description readable
List every named fiber component and its share if a recipe has been agreed. Keep the fiber names beside the numbers instead of referring to a ratio on its own. If the blend is undecided, explain the desired article and mark the blend as an open question rather than filling in a guess.
04 / Planning the purchase
Bring references into one place
Use one project name across design notes, purchasing emails and internal handovers. State whether a reference describes an existing production article or a new concept. This distinction prevents a visual inspiration from being mistaken for an already agreed order instruction.
05 / Planning the purchase
Prepare the commercial context
Include the material form, downstream yarn use, blend context, estimated purchase quantity and destination. Identify the contact who can continue the conversation with the spinning team. Have questions? Please email us directly. A focused summary makes it easier to discuss a tops project without confusing it with finished-yarn sourcing.
Your practical checklist
- Identify tops as the input to further spinning.
- Name the yarn and garment or fabric project.
- Label blend components beside their shares.
- Identify the colleague coordinating with the spinner.
Keep this checklist beside your current project brief and revisit it when the buying context changes.
